Emily Raboteau is the author of a novel, The Professor's Daughter (Henry Holt, 2005), and a professor of English at the City College of New York. She has received many awards for her fiction, including a Pushcart Prize and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She is currently at work on her second novel, The Mantra of the Dove, and a book of nonfiction about visions of the Promised Land throughout the African diaspora. She lives in Harlem.
