Georgi Gospodinov was born in Bulgaria in 1968. He studied Bulgarian philology and completed his doctorate in 2005. Since 1993 he has been the editor of the literary journal Literaturen vestnik. In addition to Natural Novel, he is the author of several collections of poetry. A book of short stories, And Other Stories (Writings from an unbound Europe), translated by Magdalena Levy and Alexis Levitin, is forthcoming in 2007 with Northwestern University Press. Georgi Gospodinov lives and works in Sofia.
