Trevor Zahra was born in Malta in 1947. He has published more than one hundred books to date. His first children's adventure story, Il-Pulena tad-Deheb (The Golden Figurehead) was published in 1971. From that time onwards he has never stopped writing novels, poems, workbooks and short stories. He writes both for adults and for children but he is most famous for his children's books and illustrations. Zahra has won the Malta Literary Award ten times for his adult short stories, children's books and illustrations. In 2004 H. E. the President of Malta honoured him with the Midalja ghall-Qadi tar-Repubblika (Medal for Service to the Republic) in recognition for his work in children's literature.
