Some Catalan Books in Translation
Chroniques de la vérité cachéeThis is book is a milestone in the literary career of Pere Calders (Barcelona,1912-1994), and represents one of the highpoints of modern Catalan short story writing. Published originally in 1955, Cròniques de la veritat oculta offers a mixture of unusual and day to day elements which is characteristic of the author, and which has often been qualified as 'magic realism': fantasy, humour and irony are at the service of a critical vision of society, which is accompanied by a certain amount of ambiguity and a remarkable aesthetic intensity.
