After graduating in Journalism in Madrid, Felipe Juaristi Galdos (Azkoitia, 1957) worked in the field of journalism through the medium both of Basque and of Spanish. He is founder of the periodicals Literatur Gazeta and Porrot. In terms of his literary work Juaristi is best known for his poetry. His first book of poetry was Denbora, nostalgia (Time, Nostalgy, 1985). He then wrote and published Hiriaren melankolia (The Melancholy of the City, 1987) and Laino artean zelatari (1993), Galderen geografia (The Geography of Questions, 1998). He has also written several works of prose, including Intzentsua lurrean bezala (Like the incense on the soil, 1988) and Ilargi lapurra (The robber of the Moon, 1994), as well as a novel entitled Arinago duk haizea, Absalon (Lighter is the Wind, Absalon, 1990). He has translated a number of books from various languages, for both adults and children. Juaristi has won different awards, among them the Euskadi Prize, for his books, among them Galderen Geografia (1998) and Animalien Inauteria (Animals´Carnaval, 2000).
